The Coach

GM Rolando Kutirov

Hello, I am the chess Grandmaster Rolando Kutirov, born in 1962 in Skopje, North Macedonia, currently living in Nyon, Switzerland.

I enjoy to bring joy and laughter to others, because laughter has a positive impact on health.

My main goal is to see happy students and to help players achieve norms and win championships.

Teaching Experience

I was the coach for the Men’s National Team of North Macedonia, in the European Championship in Gothenburg (2006), the Olympiad in Batumi (2018) and the European Championship in Batumi (2019). Furthermore, I coached the Women’s National Team of North Macedonia, in the Olympiad in Istanbul (2000) and the European Championship in Leon (2001).

From 2019 to 2023, I was a coach at the chess club Alkaloid Skopje. Since July 2020, I’ve started teaching chess online with over 50 students from 20 different countries up until today.

Playing Experience

I began playing chess when I was 7, quickly becoming a top player in North Macedonia and Yugoslavia.

In 1985, I achieved the title of International Master after a tournament in Poland. My journey included successes in Italy, securing top positions in several tournaments, Alba Adriatica (1987), Imperia (1988), Genoa (1988).

I became a national champion of North Macedonia in 1988 and 1994 and I was honored with the Grandmaster title in 1995.

Beyond these personal triumphs, I proudly represented Macedonia in several international competitions, including the Olympiads in Moscow (1994), Yerevan (1996), Elista (1998), the European Championship in Pula (1997), and the Individual European Championship in Ohrid (2001).
